The Concept
As I discussed in the news section, this Melburg Or Bust is about celebrating the culture of cars and unity amongst car fans, there is so much great work going on in the car community that it seems a shame that until now the internet is the only place that all makes and all types of cars can be seen together, when really we should be drawing inspiration from each others rides and the vast and wonderful array of possibilities that are out there.
Because of this Melburg Or Bust is open to ALL chrome bumper period cars, rather then being make or country specific we want to see as many makes, models, countries and styles as possible! The display area has space for over 400 cars and it would be fantastic to see that filled right up. The location has been chosen because it is open enough that you can see from 1 end of the display area to the other, and every effort will be made to make sure that vehicles are not clumped together by any categorical means, so that your hotrod FC Holden may be sitting between a Fiat 500 and a Tempo Matador. This way no-body will be able to hide in their comfort zones of thei favourite make or model or region, everyone will be free to wander and enjoy everything Melbourne (and Australia)'s great automotive community has to offer.
Far from being locked down into categories, Melburg Or Bust is hoping to get atleast 1 vehicle from as many makes as possible! We have approximately 50 automobile manufacturers selling cars in Australia at the moment, how fantastic it would be if we could have 50+ makes at the show. along with makes of course comes Countries of origin and the more of those too the better. Body styles? bring em on! coupes, wagons, convertables, vans, hatches, fastbacks, rods, the more types and the better. Melburg Or Bust doesnt descriminate about engines either, we know that over the years there have been 2,3,4,5,6,8,12 and even 16 cylinder engines, air and watercooledn and we want to see as many variations as possible.
And then of course, not to be forgotten, is the style of car. Lead-sled, chop top, rat, barnfind, daily, slammed, lowrider, euro, german, race ready or restored as long as you love it we want to see it.
cool cars and passionate owners wont be the only things on display at Melburg Or Bust. There will also be cool demonstrations, A Tiki Carver will be coming down from Sydney to show us all how its done and other auto-themed demonstrations will be announced as they are finalised. There will also be displays from several companies who are prominant in the automotive industry, including custom shops and parts suppliers, so if you are looking for just the right person to massage your pride and joy to perfection this will be a great opportunity to see some of the artists in the industry. Speaking of artists, there will also be a small area for artists within the automotive culture to display their work, whether it be automotive oilpaintings, screenprints, Graff artists, hubcap clocks or leather jackets, anythign that fits with the auto culture.
